Lieu de décès : Colombie Britannique, Canada

HURST.It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lindsay Danks Hurst on February 26, 2009 at 85 years of age at her home in Kamloops. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, partner of 36 years Clarence Simon, daughter Donna (Allan) Grubb, grandchildren Drew Grubb, Kelsey Grubb and Chrystal Preece (Dave), daughter-in-law Patricia-Lee Quibell-Preece, niece Helen (Jim) Seeth of Scotland, niece and nephews Karen Sena (Gottfried) Berger, Allan (Bunny) Sena and Paul (Patty) Sena of Massachusetts, USA. Lindsay was predeceased by son Kenneth Preece, grandson Bud Preece, and sisters Jean Sena and Jessie Reid. Lindsay was born September 30, 1923 in Glasgow, Scotland. She was raised in Scotland and joined the forestry corps during the Second World War. It was during that time that she met and married Walter (Bud) Preece, a Canadian serviceman. In 1946, Lindsay followed Bud to Canada as a war bride along with their infant son Ken. Despite the challenges of coming to this new country, she considered it to be a wonderful adventure. Her daughter, Donna, was born seven years later. In 1958 she was widowed but decided that Canada was now her home and with the support of her many friends, she stayed in Kamloops. She worked a number of jobs to support her family and made many friends in doing so. In 1972, she met Clarence Simon and they began their life together. They enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with her two children. Lindsay was actively involved with the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion. They were blessed with four grandchildren, who they love dearly. Lindsay spent her golden years doting on her grandchildren and simply enjoying her family and friends. We will all miss her generous and loving spirit. Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ben Anders and our very special friends Diane Aspinall and Ruth Moen who were there when we needed them most. A Celebration of Lindsay's Life will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in the Schoening Funeral Chapel (5th and Seymour) with a reception to follow. Should friends desire, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion in memory of Lindsay would be appreciated. On-line condolences may be expressed at http://www.schoenings.com. Arrangements entrusted to Schoening Funeral Service, telephone 250-374-1454
