GEORGE (GEORDIE) BURNETT GOWANS . August 26, 1922 - March 1, 2009.On March 1, 2009, Geordie passed away at Overlander Extended Care with his family by his side. Survived by his wife Florence Grip, her children Hield Bloom (Andy), Maja Grip (Jack), Margaret Johnson (Barry), Lars Grip and their families. Geordie also leaves his special sister-in-law Margaret Gowans (Doug) and his loving nephews and nieces Kent Chappell (Carol), Eleanor Thompson (Dan), Roberta Gowans (Dave), Bob Gowans (Colleen), Elaine Ward (Joe), Mary Gowans (Ernie) and Louise Thomson (James) and their children. Predeceased by his sisters Lottie Thomson and Catherine Chappell, brother Jack Gowans and nephew John Gowans. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to the Parkinson Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 6, 2009 in the Schoening Funeral Chapel, 513 Seymour Street. Geordie's remains will be placed next to his Granny in the Gowans family cemetery at the ranch at a later date.
