Eldra Amanda Robertson born May 21, 1913 passed away January 5, 2010 in Nanaimo, BC.

Predeceased by husband Raymond of 59 years, son Neil (Tippy), grandson Lee Frazer, great grandson Tyler Hartling and Rily Robertson.

Survived by daughters Blanche Frazer (Art) and Carol Lamont (Ken) and daughter-in-law Laverne Darychuk. Ten grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Born in Vancouver, one of four children of Jay Ward and Alice Blanche Whitman, she lost her mother at the age of 5 of the 1918 flu.

Eldra moved to Clinton in 1928 (Mound Ranch) and was very involved in the community, from decorating for the annual May Ball to making wonderful floats for the May Day parades from 1937-1990’s. In 1967 Centennial year, Eldra won first prize for a handcrafted quilt depicting the history of BC, which is still displayed today in the Quesnel Museum.

In 1978 Eldra received Citizen of the Year. She entered and won many ribbons at the PNE. She was a long time member of many clubs including 70 Mile Women’s Inst., Hospital Auxillary and of course “Cattles Bells”. She also enjoyed travelling extensively throughout the world.

Eldra was a fabulous cook, baker and seamstress and always had room for one more at the table! And what a great story teller! In 1995 she moved to Nanaimo, BC. While losing her eye sight she still kept busy making hand braided rugs for her family. “One talented Lady”. Always a generous heart and taking care of everyone else.
