George Gordon Elmer McNolty Jan 14, 1920 - March 2, 2009 Elmer passed away peacefully in Royal Inland Hospital. He was born in Manitoba to Eva and Howard McNolty. Predeceased by his brothers Alex and Cliff and daughter-in-law Norma. Elmer is survived by his wife Marguerite, his sisters Mickey Coulter and Eva Hogg, his children Barbara (Les) Larkin, Beverly (Gordon) Hurrie, Cathy (Oliver) Hesse, Randy McNolty and Debbie Cunningham; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-eight grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. He married Meg on June 22, 1940 and then went overseas with the Canadian Army in June 1941, returning home in July 1945. After a short working time in Kamloops, they moved to Powell River where Elmer went to work for McMillan - Bloedel, retiring in July 1980. They then moved to Lone Butte and then back to Kamloops. Elmer was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and received the Canadian Confederation Medal for his service to Canada after cessation of hostilities. The family would like to thank Dr. M.S. Wilson, the nurses and staff at Royal Inland Hospital for all the care given to Elmer. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Schoening Funeral Chapel, 513 Seymour Street. Should friends desire, donations to the Last Post Fund, BC Branch, 203 - 7337 137th Street, Surrey, BC V3W 1A4 in memory of Elmer would be appreciated.
