Teresa Gillis
November 4, 1927 – July 29, 2012
Teresa Gillis, 84 (Mrs. Ray Gillis) of Park Street, Stellarton, passed away on the evening of July 29 in the Transitional Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital.
Teresa was born and grew up in Trenton, Nova Scotia and moved to Stellarton after her marriage to Ray Gillis in 1948. She was a daughter of the late Alan and Annie (Phillips) MacDonald.
She was a long time member of Christ Anglican Church where she was a member of the choir for many years as well as being very active in the ACW (Anglican Church Women).
Although Teresa had no formal musical training, she was active in line dancing, played guitar and piano and always enjoyed making music with friends and family.
Teresa is survived by her husband Ray, as well as her daughter, Joanne Gillis, (William Mayes), Hopewell and her son, Harold, Victoria, B.C.
Her remains will rest in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton for visiting from 2-5 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday from Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton with Rev. Aidan Kingsbury presiding. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
Donations in memory of Teresa may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
The family wish to thank the Aberdeen Hospital staff on floors 4S and 5S for their gentle, professional and compassionate care over the past five weeks.
