SHANKS, PHYLLIS DOREEN - The passing of Doreen Phyllis Shanks of Fredericton occurred at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Hospital on Monday, July 30, 2012. She was 75. Born in Fredericton NB she was the daughter of Harold (Bill) and the late Edith (Parker) Pledge. Baptist by faith, she was a clerk at UNB’S Graphic services for over twenty four years. Besides her dad, Doreen is survived by one daughter Cindy McCloskey (James) of Noonan NB, one son Tim Shanks (Michelle) of Fredericton NB, one sister Shirley Price of Edmonton Alberta, five grandchildren Kelly, Kyle, Kris, Haley and Shelby, four great-grandchildren Faith, Isabella, Serena and Claire, several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are close friends Enid and Erlan Reynolds, Murina Grasse, Barb Hillman, Phyllis Munro, Jackie MacPherson and Harriett McNeill. Special thanks are also extended to Gerome and Andrea MacDonald and Father Monte Peters. Besides her mother, she was predeceased by her husband Frederick Charles Shanks and a great-granddaughter Payton.
Although there will be no visitation, a memorial service will be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Wednesday, August 1st at 3:00 PM with Father Monte Peters officiating. Interment to follow in the Marysville Baptist Cemetery. The family has suggested the Children’s Wish Foundation or any charity of ones choice for memorial contributions.
