Dearmond, Marion Gertrude, 84, Beaver Brook, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro with her family at her side. Born in Truro, Marion was a daughter of the late Fred and Anne (Crowe) Loughead. Marion worked for several years at Lewis Hat Factory as a payroll Clerk, several years for Moffatt Brothers as a payroll Clerk, and several years as a Credit Reporter at the Registry of Deeds for the Credit Bureau of Truro. Marion was a lifetime member of the 4-H Club, Clifton as well as a member of the Beaver Brook Women’s Institute. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by son Randall “Randy†(Kathy), Beaver Brook; daughters, Donna Hobson (Ernest), Green Oaks, Geraldine “Geri†Dearmond, Beaver Brook; grandchildren, Heather Hobson (Mel Thorne), Truro Heights, Dan Hobson (Christina), Green Oaks; step-grandson Robert Sanford (Jean), step-great-grandchildren, Hailey and Emily; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Walter Franklyn Dearmond; brothers, Leslie, Lawrence, Robert, Smith; sisters, Ella, Ada, Bessie, Viva.
Visitation will be 7 –9 pm Monday and funeral service 2 pm Tuesday, Jan. 12th, in the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Rev. Ian Harrison will officiate with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in the Old Barns Cemetery, Old Barns. Donations in Marion’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Fund of Nova Scotia.
