Passed peacefully away in her 99th year at the Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, January 9th, 2010, Dorothy Porter of Foxtrap, formerly of Dark Cove, Gambo N.L. Predeceased by husbands Robert Rideout (1952), Norman Porter (2006) and sons Richard (Ricky) Porter (1985), and Clyde Rideout (1996). Celebrating her life are daughter Patricia Best (Heber), sister Gladys Kirby (Gander), and grandchildren Robert Rideout (Debbie), Clyde Rideout Jr., Wendy Farrell (Sean), Stephen Best (Rick), Andrea Best, Mark Best (Michelle), Michelle Porter (Russ) and April Porter Crews (Doug). Mom Dot cherished her 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and their visits never failed to brighten her day. Mom will be lovingly remembered by daughters-in law Maude Rideout and Ruth Hart (Jim) and devoted life-long friend Mary Kirby. She will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends as well as by staff and friends at Admiral Coast Retirement Centre. Mom always loved the outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed camping and travelling. Throughout her lifetime, her deep faith and unwavering belief in a Loving God gave her strength and comfort. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Monday, 10 a.m. to 12 noon, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Service to celebrate her life will take place in All Saint’s Anglican Church, Foxtrap on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery on Dunn’s Hill Road, Foxtrap.
