Léonie Melanson

MELANSON, LÉONIE - 1912 - 2012 - Léonie Melanson, 100, of Résidence Au Benaise, Saint-Antoine, and formerly of Cocagne, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 5th, 2012 at the Dr Georges L Dumont University Hospital Center, Moncton. She was married to the late Josephat Melanson (1998). Born in Grande-Digue on March 1st, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Auguste and the late Céline (Léger) Bourque. She will be sadly missed by her three daughters; Eva Goguen of Bouctouche, Pauline Richard (Gerard-Eugene) of Saint-Antoine and Francine Melanson-Jones (Glen) of St. Catherine, ON her five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn one sister; Emerise LeBlanc of Moncton, and several nephews and nieces. Léonie was predeceased by five sisters; Anna, Lorette, Emilienne, Exelda, Irène and four brothers, Patrick, Eric, René and Arcade.
Visitations will be held at the Saint-Pierre Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Cocagne on Tuesday, August 7th, 2012 from 7 to 9 and on Wednesday from 9 to 10:45 am. Funeral Mass will be held at the Cocagne Church on Wednesday, August 8th, 2012 at 11:00 am, with interment in the parish cemetery. In Léoni’s memory donations can be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB).
