Lieu de décès : Colombie Britannique, Canada

JOHN WALTER WITEK .October 2, 1921 - August 13, 2009 Predeceased by our Mom, Antoinette in 2002. Dad leaves suddenly behind the loves of his life, his daughters; Josie Braun and Louise (Jack) Sawada. His other loves were his grandchildren; Jason, Jeff (Melissa), Mandy Braun, Kristy (Craig) Brown and Leilani (Stefen), Reid as well as nine great-grandchildren. John also leaves his sister Rose Curylo of Sardis, BC who we know will deeply miss him. Dad served two terms in World War II as second on the gun, 8th English Army of the Seaforth Highlander fighting in North Africa and Italy. The bravery and courage he and his unit showed at Bagnachavella, Italy saved many lives, you were a true hero , always to us. Dad came home to Chilliwack were he learned the electrical trade. He married our mom Antoinette and in later years accepted the Chief Electricians position at the Blue River Sawmill until 1962. Then we moved to Kamloops to continue his trade until his retirement. He was a great fisherman and loved the outdoors. He was always trying to coax the "big one" out with his secret lure aptly named the "JW Special". Dad, we cannot find the words to express the pain we are feeling right now, you were and always will be a part of our everyday. We looked forward to being welcomed by your great smile every time we came through the door. All we feel now is overwhelming emptiness, sadness and our days will never be the same without you - our healing will take a very long time. We know you are home again with your family and beloved cat Tina. Dad now you can breathe freely again. Love you forever Louise, Josie and family. We would like to express a sincere thank you to the Interior Health Morning Ladies - they were the only ones that could get his peaches and cream porridge just right. Also Martin (Nurse Next Door) for finding Janet who became his chauffeur and outings companion. Janet, we will never forget your kindness and caring for our dad. A Private Graveside Service will be held for family members in the Veterans section at The Hillside Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Alternative Funeral Services, 250-554-2324
