DERMOT RENE BENNETT May 12, 1945 – July 28, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dermot Rene Bennett after a courageous battle against cancer. He fought his illness with the same determination, spirit and tenacity that he frequently applied to every aspect of his life. Derm is predeceased by his parents, three sisters and three brothers. He leaves to mourn his wife Loretta, sons Sean (Lorianna) & Damien (Stacey), daughter Heidi (Peter), grandchildren Patrick, Parker, Maya and Lorenzo, brother Wayne, sisters Joan and Beatrice, nieces, nephews and extended family members. Derm was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, moved to B.C. in 1969, and worked for Finning Tractor until retirement. Derm was known for his strong work ethic, honesty and integrity. We would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Community Care, Kelowna General Hospital, the Cancer Clinic, Hospice House, Hospice Volunteers, his caring physicians and a special thank you to Dr. Michael Banwell. A service to celebrate Derm’s life will be held Saturday, August 8th, 1:00 p.m. at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road in Kelowna. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior or Central Okanagan Hospice Association would be greatly appreciated. Derm will be sadly missed by all.
