Gunter Ansorge died in Berlin, Germany on July 25th, 2012 in his home cared for by his wife Erika and surrounded by his loved ones after some months of illness. He was born on March 25th, 1933 in Berlin, son of Elsa and Alfred Ansorge and followed his father in the investment business there. His parents and only brother all predeceased him. Surviving him are his son Christian, from his first marriage, Christian’s wife Angela and their daughter Sarah; Gunter and Erika’s son Mark, Mark’s wife Veronique and their two children Mila and Nicolas; and his step-daughter Ruby and her son Jeremiah (“JJ”). He lived his life with love and generosity and his family share in many happy memories. As an entrepreneur, developer and investor he recognized the value of the work of Rolf Herken and became involved in the software company “mental images “GmbH”, one of the achievements of which was the digital image of Gollum which appeared in the movie production of J.R.R. Tolkien’s trilogy “The Lord of the Rings”, winning the Oscar that year. On a dismal and rainy day, Nov. 4th, 1982 Gunter and Erika joined their great friend Peter Plettner in Nova Scotia to see his development at Stewart’s Lake in Port Mouton, Queens County. After the gloomy atmosphere of their first evening, the sun showed the beauty of Nova Scotia the next day and they established a second home at Stewart’s Lake. They made many friends in Nova Scotia and Gunter will be sadly missed by them. The funeral will be held in Berlin on August 21st next.
