CARY GRANT ST.ANDREWS

Lieu de naissance : East York, Ontario, Canada
Date de naissance : 24 décembre 1954

Lieu de décès : Kamloops, Colombie Britannique, Canada
Date de décès : 12 août 2012

Cary Grant St. Andrews Maclean passed away on August 12, 2012 in the Kamloops Hospice. Cary was 58.

Cary is survived by his wife Kathy. He is survived by his sisters Susan and Shirley, four step-children, Theresa, Matthew, Robin and Christopher, four grandchildren, Faith, Maggie, Ainsley and Nathan as well as his much loved A.A. family.

He is predeceased by both his biological parents, Marion and Doug St. Andrews, his adoptive mother, Joan Maclean, his sister Carol St. Andrews and his brother Bob St. Andrews.

Cary was born December 24, 1954 in East York, Ontario. He was the 6th child of Marion and Douglas St. Andrew's. After his mother's death, Cary was adopted by Joan and Alan Maclean. This was not a successful adoption for Cary and he left home in his early teens to roam the country. It was during his travels that he became addicted to both alcohol and street drugs. He used to joke that he had been in every recovery center in Canada. Cary moved to Kamloops in 1986. In 2000, Cary spent ten months in Miracle Valley, which was then run by the Salvation Army, and from that point on, his recovery life began. Cary would have been 10 years sober this October.

Cary worked in the oil patch for many years. He also successfully ran a renovation and painting business until his health made physical work too difficult. He was the Literature Chair for District 62 of A.A. and had been putting together a history of A.A. and the influences of early temperance movements on A.A.

Many thanks to Dr. M. Wilson who took care of Cary for many years and Dr. J. Farrell for his compassion and concern the last week of Cary's life. Thank you to all his friends who came and spent time with him the past few weeks. Thank you also to my family, friends, and A.A. Members who are trying to ease my pain at losing him. It is appreciated.

There will be a Memorial Service for Cary in early September and will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kamloops Food Bank or Alano Club in memory of Cary.
