SAMUEL WILLIAM MILLER We are sad to announce the passing of a wonderful and gentle man, Samuel William Miller, of Kamloops, British Columbia, at the Overlander Extended Care Hospital, on Monday, June 8, 2009. Sam was born to the late Samuel and Sarah Miller, November 19, 1921 in Montreal. He lived most of his life in Verdun, Quebec before relocating to Kamloops in 2005. Sam was predeceased by his parents and by his beloved brother Teddy, sister-in-law Olive and brother-in-law, Philip Preziosi. He is survived by his two sisters, Eileen Preziosi of Verdun, Quebec and Daisy Marchant of Vancouver, BC, his son Gary Moore (Diane) and grandchildren Angela, Jesse and Katie of Winfield, BC. Sam was a favourite Uncle to, and will be greatly missed by, Kim (Pam), Debbie (Jim), Donna (Bob), Eric (Goldie), Lee (Terri), Alana (Ray) and Brad (Patti). He will also be missed by his 15 great nieces and nephews. His camera and later his video camera was present at many family occasions and the pictures and movies he took have left us with memories we will cherish forever. Sam was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces in World War II. Following his service in the war, he worked for CNCP communications until retirement. Working night shift at CNCP gave him the chance to play golf which he loved, practically every day. He also enjoyed a good game of Scrabble and knew words and definitions that baffled his opponents as they existed only in the Scrabble Dictionary. Sam is remembered by his family and friends as a kind and giving person with a mischievous and humorous streak. During his years at the Overlander, he took great pride in knowing each of the attendants and nurses by name. Although confined to a wheelchair, his quick sense of humour and never complaining pleasant manner, quickly made him one of their favourite residents. He was one of their family. When it was evident Sam's death was imminent, they welcomed him home and cared for him with much kindness and compassion until his death. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Overlander, 953 Southill Street, Kamloops, BC. A service to honour Sam's memory will be arranged at a later date
