THORBURN – Lillian Mae Reid, age 79 of Thorburn, Pictou County, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2010, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Trenton, she was a daughter of the late James C. and Jessie Susanne (Jones) Chislett.
Lillian was a resident of Thorburn since 1949 and was a guest of Glen Haven Manor for the past two years.
During her working years she worked at Woolworth’s. Lillian was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and was also a CGIT leader for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Thorburn Fire Dept. and was a member of the Dorcas Rebekah Lodge #42 Thorburn. Lillian enjoyed baking and sewing.
Surviving are her husband, Orrie Reid; children: Fred (Velda) Reid of Thorburn; Heather Cross (Wayne Dunbar) of Plymouth; David (Margaret) Reid of Stewiacke; Susan (Andre) James of Enfield; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother, Reg Chislett of Listowel, Ont.
Lillian was predeceased by a sister, Muriel Fry; brothers: Bert, Doug and Wes Chislett; also by a number of siblings in infancy.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will take place in Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in the Thorburn Cemetery at a later date. A reception will follow the service in the church hall.
