ROY MOFFATT 1919~2009 Frederick Roy Moffatt, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, went home to the loving arms of his Lord on May 17, 2009 at 89 years of age. Roy is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Moffatt (nee Bloomfield), sons Lloyd (Pamela), and Bruce (Darlene), Sharilyn (Brian Tiessen); grandchildren Coralea (Ron Saunders), Trisha (Roger Smith); Amy, Nathan, and Clinton (Laura) Tiessen; great-grandchildren Mia and Ami Smith and Jaime Saunders. Born August 2, 1919 at a farm home in Gregg, Manitoba, Roy was the fifth child of Sparling and Eliza Moffatt. He is predeceased by his siblings John (Eva), Luella (Andy Nelson), Ada (John Nelson), and Robert (Laura). He is survived by his brother Ken of Thunder Bay, ON. He served with the RCAF from 1941-1945, marrying Ruth when the war was over. Ruth and Roy enjoyed nearly 64 years of marriage. They lived briefly in Victoria, Duncan, and Burns Lake, but spent 53 years in Kamloops. He worked for the Ministry of Highways for 28 years, retiring in 1984. He was a devoted family man and friend to all. Roy was involved in his church, lay pastoring in his younger years and visiting the sick later on. He kept a large garden and enjoyed hunting and fishing. We would like to thank the staff of Kamloops Seniors' Village where Roy received loving care and kindness the last three years of his life. Last, but not least, a special thanks to Dr. O'Connell for his supportive care during this time. The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2009 in the Kamloops Alliance Church, 233 Fortune Drive, with Pastor Larry Boss officiating.
