WEST, MICHAEL - The death of Michael Russell West, age 45, of Minto NB occurred on Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Michael was surrounded by his loving family and friends in life and throughout his illness. Born June 4th, 1967 in Minto NB, Michael was the youngest son of Ann-Marie West (step-father Gene McElwain) and the late Carl West Sr. (step-mother Irene). Michael is survived by his loving wife of 21 years Terri-Lynn (Gauthier), daughter Laura, sons Joshua and Brent, brothers Carl West Jr. (Angela) and Julian Austin (Angela), step-brothers and step-sisters Lynn (Laurie) Richardson, Nancy (Marvin) Jordan, Carol-Anne (Ronnie) Austin, Dana and David, his special Tante Emily and Uncle Ralph Goodwin, Uncle Billy and Aunt Dot West, In-laws Stephen and Elaine Gauthier, brother-in-law Tracy (Ronna) Gauthier, sister-in-law Debbie West, nieces and nephews Shelby and Logan West, Rachael and Clark Gauthier, several cousins and special “family members” Matthew Mazerolle and Karissa Chessie. Besides his father, Michael was predeceased by maternal grand-parents Mary and Alvin Austin and paternal grandparents Avis and Russell West and step-brother Bruce McElwain. Known as a kind, generous and fun-loving spirit with a tremendous sense of humour, Michael was a long-time business owner of Floor Experts in Oromocto, NB. Michael enjoyed his summers with family in Cumberland Bay, snowmobiling and 4-wheeling to his camp in Salmon River and watching his daughter sing and his sons and their friends play hockey.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 23rd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Hogg Funeral Services (10 King Street, Minto, NB). Funeral services and reception will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, August 24th, 2012 at the United Baptist Church on Hwy #10 in Minto, NB with Rev. Kris Austin officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Pallbearers are special friends Stephen Richardson, Paul McKenelley, Jacques Mills, Brian Richardson, Scott Maston and Kevin Bailey. Honorary Pallbearers are special friends Brent abd Hayward McKenelley, Ron Lynch, Al Forbes, Bob Fraser and Peter Tulk. The family wishes to express to all of their friends and loved-ones their deepest gratitude for the support during our “Westies-Besties” Cancer Relay Team fundraising and the “Fight for Mike” benefit.
