Lieu de décès : Colombie Britannique, Canada

Joseph Broder, of Kamloops, BC, peacefully left us on Monday, May 4th, 2009 at Royal Inland Hospital. Joseph is survived by loving wife Jean, daughter Terica (Larry) Hanna of Kamloops, son Thomas (Kristy) Broder of Harrogate, BC, granddaughters Amber Black of Kamloops and Josephene Broder of Harrogate, BC, brother Eugene (Sherann) Broder of Vancouver, niece Andrea Broder of Vancouver, nephew Darren (Mary) Broder and their children Linden, Conrad and Holland of Vancouver, BC, as well as many relations in Central and Western Canada. He was predeceased by his mother Anastasia "Nellie" Broder, and father Michael Joseph Broder. Joseph was born on his father's farm near Arran, Saskatchewan on September 18, 1933. He helped his parents run the farm and attended school in Arran. He regularly attended Vesna Ukrainian Catholic Church, as Joseph's family were dedicated to his Ukrainian heritage. His family moved to Little Fort, BC in 1948. His father secured employment with CN Rail, as section foreman at McMurphy. His mother passed shortly thereafter, leaving Joseph and Eugene to be raised by their Aunt Mary and Uncle Steve Kurylowich, while the boys attended school. Being very musical, Joseph was well known throughout the North Thompson Valley for his group called Joe's Trio, which consisted of Joseph on accordion, Harold Princehouse on guitar, Louis Latremouille on fiddle, and later, Jean on guitar/vocals. They performed for many weddings and special occasions. Joseph also participated on local hockey and baseball teams. On July 20th, 1957, Joseph and Jean (nee Miller) were joined in Holy Matrimony by Father Quigley in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Little Fort. In that same year, Joseph was hired by CN Rail as ballast inspector at Boulder, BC. He and his new wife Jean resided in Little Fort until 1960 when they moved to Blue River where Joseph continued his railway career as car checker. In 1962, Joseph and Jean made a joyous trip to Vancouver to adopt a beautiful new daughter, Terica Lynn. That year they moved to Kamloops, where Joseph continued with CN Rail as a ticket agent. In 1966 Joseph and Jean were overjoyed with the birth of their son, Thomas Eugene. They also cared for several foster children for many years. During this time, they had many family outings at local area lakes, where they fished and camped. Joseph, having been raised on a farm, enjoyed cultivating a beautiful garden and giving care to several critters, which he loved. In 1991, after 34 years with CN Rail, Joseph retired. Shortly thereafter, Joseph was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, requiring him to become dependent on his close family for his activities of daily living. His mobility, though restricted, was still enjoyed by home entertainment and going on family outings. He remained in the loving care of his family until his journey was complete. A Celebration of Life for Joseph will be held in September. In lieu of flowers, Joseph asked that donations in his memory be made to the Parkinson Society Canada, 316-4211 Yonge St., Toronto, ON M2P 2A9.
