Peters, Shirley Jean (Suttis) – 76, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at home. Born in Truro, December 13th , 1935 she was the daughter of the late Dorcas and Wally (Dean) Suttis. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gerald, sons, Randy (Kathy) Amherst, David (Roxane) Halifax, Michael (Jane), Jim (Sharon) both of Truro. As well as her grandchildren, Natasha (Mark), Jamie, Shawn, Bradley, Katelyn, Michaela, Spencer, Emily, Alex, Matthew (Sam), Christopher (Jess), Ashley and one great granddaughter, Annabeth; several nieces and nephews. Also left to mourn her loss are sisters, Velma Venner, Truro, Linda (John) Geddes, Middle Stewiacke, Peg (Fred) Rutherford, Hamilton, ON, Joan Southern, BC and brother Dean, BC. She was predeceased by sisters, Helen Carter, Phyllis Lewis and brother, George Suttis. Shirley was an avid Snowman collector and also a member of a local card club for 54 years. At this time we would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. N. Bower, Dr. C. Smith, Lisa Wilson, Marilyn MacKean and all VON staff for their endless support and guidance. Last but not least to her personal caregiver Kathy Willis who enabled Shirley to remain in her home for her final days. Also to Greta Baird and Lorraine Hamilton for their special ever lasting friendships. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 26 from 7-9 pm; memorial service on Monday, August 27 at 2:00 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Donna Lawrence officiating. Private interment in Bible Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
