Linnhe Ereaut Bethune, 61, of Thousand Oaks, California, passed away on August 18, 2012, in the company of her family and close friend Cynthia Bengtson.

Born February 21, 1951, in Berwick, N.S., Linnhe spent her early years in Canada. At age 10, she moved with her family to La Cañada, Calif. She earned a B.A. in history from California State University, Northridge, in 1974, and a master’s degree from California Lutheran University in 1978. She began her career as a special education teacher at Camarillo State Hospital.

Linnhe was a longtime volunteer for the Stagecoach Inn Museum in Newbury Park, Calif. She served as a docent and as vice chair of the docent council executive board.

She is survived by her parents, Margaret and Jack Bethune of Lummi Island, Wash.; her brother, John Bethune (wife Cheryl Spector) and nieces Jessica and Miranda of Northridge, Calif.; aunts Barbara Best of Waterville, N.S., and Ruth Davies of Canning, N.S., uncles John Bickerton of Sydney, N.S., Robert Bickerton of Falmouth, N.S., Carman Bickerton of Manotick, Ont., and Jim Bickerton of Sackville, N.S.; and many cousins.

Linnhe’s ashes will be interred in the Berwick; a celebration of her life will be held in Thousand Oaks, Calif., on a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Stagecoach Inn Museum, 51 S. Ventu Park Rd., Newbury Park, CA 91320.
