GARY RAYMOND SHEPARD The family of Gary Raymond Shepard, born October 15, 1949, sadly regret to announce his passing on April 21, 2009. Gary leaves behind his beloved wife, Ruth, and his three children, Corey James, Mikaela Rae and Brendon Scott. He is also survived by his sister Coleen (William) Bostock, his brother Lyle Shepard, sister Karen Bell, his sister-in-law Elaine (Bob) Hirtle, brother-in-law Laurie (Joy) Jeffery, sister-in-law Betty Campbell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gary was predeceased by his father, Edgar Spencer, in 1994, and his mother, Dorothy Mae, in 2005. Gary was born in Victoria, BC, but moved to Kamloops with his family at the age of 5. The family lived in the Dallas area throughout his school years. Music of all sorts was his passion, and he was very active in the local Sea Cadet Band during this time. Because of his talent, he enlisted in the navy at the age of 18. The lure of the "big sea", as well as the opportunity to spend his life involved with music via the Naden Band, had captured his imagination, as it had his father before. When he left the navy, he became a print pressman, spending many years in that trade. He was a great handy-man, and liked to fix anything that "went broke". He loved to go to Car Shows and Auto Museums. Cars, (and even go-karting), was a love he passed down to his sons. Some of his favourite times were playing in local music groups "The Solution", "What's Happening", "Trans Canada Highway", "Dogwood", and "The Deadman Creek Boys". His enthusiasm for the music of the Sixties and Seventies was extended to his children, who enjoyed both the music and the time spent together. Services for Gary were held Monday, April 27, 2009. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated
