Peacefully, surrounded by her family in the Almonte General Hospital on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 in her 92nd year. Born in St. John’s Newfoundland. Beloved mother of Ed Brown (Jill) of B.C., Maureen Elmy (Glen) of Clayton, Ontario and Barbara Todd (Don Dugdale) of Almonte, Ontario. Loving grandmother of Joe Pert, Cindy Ziyenge, Richard Todd, Tina Bullock and great-grandmother of Xavier, Bryce, Weylin, Kristianna, Helainah and Sidney. Sister to Nix Wadden (Madeline) of Ottawa and Helen Carter of St. John’s Newfoundland. Predeceased by parents Nicholas and Bride (Fitzgerald) Wadden and by brothers Brian and Billy. Mary lived a life rich in family, friendships, travel, art and photography spanning many years starting in St. John’s Newfoundland and moving to Ottawa in 1977. She worked with the American Forces, Memorial University, taught at the College of Trades and Technology in St. John’s, then worked in the House of Commons, Ottawa until her retirement in 1986. Her early love of painting, photography, travel and joy of life was an inspiration to all who knew her. Friends may call at the Almonte Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 154 Elgin Street, Almonte on Monday, August 27th from 1 to 3 p.m followed by a Funeral Mass at 3:30 p.m. in Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Almonte.
