It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dale Wayne MacCrae, 72, of Scotsburn, and formerly of Abercrombie and Scotch Hill. Born March 29, 1940 in Yarmouth Hospital, he was the only son of the late Irene (nee Morton) and William MacCrae of Port Maitland. He is survived by his wife, Marie (nee Ringer) MacCrae; sons, Danny (Auldine) MacCrae, Fort McMurray, AB; George (Suzanne) MacCrae, Eastern Passage; daughters, Michelle (Chris Rowat) Hicks, Lake Echo; Nicole (Earl) MacCallum, Pictou; special cousins, Dianne MacCrae, Pictou and Marta (Fred) Ellis, Springhill; extended family, Allan & Mary Fraser, Scotsburn. He is also survived by loving grandchildren, Amanda MacCrae, Melissa (Aaron) Robertson, Marie (Charles) MacCrae, Corey and Zachery MacCrae, Stephanie and Dale Hicks, Justin, Damien, and Ethan MacCallum; along with great grandchildren, Ryan Robertson, Dallas and Harley MacCrae; brother and sister-in-laws, Ronald and Sharon Ringer, Dartmouth; Judd and Jerene Ringer, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; Martha and Dale Holmes, Shelburne; along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his mother and father, he was also predeceased by mother and father-in-law, Dorothy and Leander Davis, Shelburne, and niece, Rhonda Ringer, Dartmouth. Dale was a founding member of the Abercrombie Fire Department and drove tractor trailer for many years. Visitation will be held 7-9 PM Wednesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Memorial service will take place 2:00 PM Thursday from Scotsburn United Church, with Michael Simmons officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the church hall. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only please. Donations in Dale’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Diabetes Association. The family would like to extend special thanks to EHS, Scotsburn Fire Department First Responders, Dr. Fahim and the staff of Aberdeen Hospital ICU, especially nurses, Dana, Lisa and Shaun (ER). Thank You for making a difficult situation easier for the family with your professionalism, compassion, and caring.
