Baxter, Geraldine Vera (Cochrane) – 90, of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 10, 2012 in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor; with her loving family around her. Born on August 9, 1922 in Sweets Corner; she was the daughter of the late Wilfred “Snip” Cochrane and the late Hazel (Lockhart) Cochrane-Martin. She lived in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, for the past five years and made lots of wonderful friends there. Geraldine worked in restaurants and motels throughout the Valley for most of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Geraldine will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughters Sharon (Wayne) Burgess, Dartmouth; Audrey (Robert “Bob”) Crowell, Union Corner; sons Earl (Judy) Baxter, New Brunswick; Leonard (Sharon Penn) Baxter, Middleton; Frederick (Linda) Baxter, Springfield; Garnet (Rose) Baxter, Bridgewater; Michael (Heather) Baxter, Auburn; daughter-in-law Joann Baxter, Calgary, AB; brothers Owen (Florence) Cochrane, Hantsport; Irving Cochrane (Brenda), Windsor; Glen (Cora) Martin, Ellershouse; sisters Olive “Ollie” Porter, Windsor; Anna (Yvon) Brault, Bedford; Brenda (Clayton) Acker, Falmouth; Emma (Merle) McCulloch, Windsor; Debbie Martin, Kentville; brother-in-law, Chester Baxter, Ontario; sister-in-law Norma Etter, Ellershouse; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents; Geraldine was predeceased by her husband Clarence “Caddy” Baxter; daughter Myra Baxter (Sidney Merritt); son Clarence Baxter; step grandson Jason Pierce; sisters Donna Flynn, Mildred Murphy, Winnifred “Winnie” Rafuse; brother Frederick Cochrane; sister-in-law Ivy Skelhorne; and a brother-in-law Blaine Baxter. There was a private family gathering from 2-4 Saturday, September 15 at Bob and Audrey’s home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of Dykeland Lodge.
