Audrey Munroe
The family of Audrey Hedwig Munroe, 86, regretfully announce her passing at the Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. She was lovingly cared for through her illness by her husband of over 63 years, Norman Munroe.
Audrey was born the eldest of nine children to the late Gustav and Hedwig Graf in Windham Hill, N.S. She always knew the meaning of hard work having grown up on a blueberry farm and helping her parents run the household. At an early age, Audrey started working in the stockroom at Letchers Chevrolet dealership in Springhill and then later at Canada Car in Amherst. When she and Norman moved to Moncton, she worked as a bookkeeper at Robert K. Buzzell and then later for 29 years at La Bonne Nouvelle until her retirement. Audrey was an active member of St.John’s United Church for many years, taking part in the U.C.W., the church choir, and many other volunteer functions. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and a clean house. The greatest light of her life was her family and spending time with them. Audrey will be sadly missed by her loving husband Norman Munroe (married Nov.28,1948); her sons Larry Munroe (Ellen) of Fredericton; Alan Munroe (Janet) of Moncton; and her grandchildren Kyle (Calgary, AB), Kirk and partner Miranda Bowden (Fredericton), Jonas and Garet (both of Moncton). She is also survived by sisters Gladys Russell of Lansing, Michigan; Greta Ernst of Quesnel, BC; Verna Mossop of North Vancouver, BC; brothers Harry Graf (Elsa) of Quesnel, BC; Gordon Graf (Yvonne) of Victoria, BC; Walter Graf of Quesnel, BC; Carman Graf (Joan) of Telkwa, BC; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Audrey was predeceased by her sister Carol Chapman.
No visitation hours by request of the family. A Celebration of Life Service for Audrey will be held at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995), on Saturday September 15, 2012 at 11:00 am with Rev. Aaron Billard officiating. Reception to follow in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. Private family service and interment to follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Springhill, N.S.
Special thanks to the Palliative Care staff of The Moncton Hospital.
