Passed away after a short illness at the Carbonear General Hospital on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, Thomas McCarthy of Riverhead, Harbour Grace, age 87 years. Predeceased by wife: Annie, infant children: Dominic, Annie Marie, Veronica and Patrick, parents: Joseph and Margaret McCarthy, brother: Michael McCarthy, sister: Elizabeth Hunt and brother-in-law: Bill Hennessey. Left to mourn, daughter: Donna (Gerry) Power, Carbonear; two sons: Larry (Sharlene), Spaniard’s Bay and Terry (Evelyn), Harbour Grace; four grandchildren: Tammy (Edwin), David, Keri-Anne (Bryan) and Joshua (Tara); four great-grandchildren: Cameron, Jaidyn, Addison and Riley; sister: Mary Hennessey, St. John’s; brother-in-law: Moses Hunt, Harbour Grace South and sister-in-law: Mary McCarthy, Harbour Grace; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Rested at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace. Father F. J. Aylward, Father William Pearce and Father John Peddle conducted the funeral mass on Thursday, September 13 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace. Interment took place in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Grace. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace or to a charity of one’s choice.
