HALLEY, MICHAEL “MIKE” P. - 1953 - 2012 - It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Michael “Mike” P. Halley, 59, of Moncton, at his residence on Thursday, September 13, 2012. Born in Demerara River, British Guyana, he was the son of the late Thomas and Solange (Gagnon) Halley. Mike, a retired District 2 educator, was educated at the University of New Brunswick and the University of British Columbia and taught in Moncton schools at Bessborough, Rockaway, Forest Glen, Queen Elizabeth, Edith Cavell, and in Riverview at the Riverview Middle School and retired from Frank L. Bowser School as a Vice Principal. A lifelong traveler, Mike's extensive circle of friends span the globe. In retirement, he taught at the CIS School in Beijing, China, an experience he shared with many new friends and colleagues. Mike will be sadly missed by his beloved children, Shannon of St. John’s, NL and Greg of Moncton; the mother of his children, Tricia Halley of Riverview; sisters, Colette Irwin (Tom) of Dartmouth, NS, Linda Halley and Terry Halley (Todd), both of Lower Sackville, NS; special niece and nephew, Jaclyn and David (Emily). In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Jim.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road , Moncton (858-1995) on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service for Mike will be held at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 4:00 pm. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service, followed immediately by an appropriate post service remembrance get together. Mike's passion for learning and his affection for fun lead his family and friends to encourage donations in support of the Frank L. Bowser Play Park, and we would respectfully request that if you wish to make a memorial donation to charity, please consider a cheque payable to the Minister of Finance, c/o Anglo East School District directed to the Frank L.
