SCHMIDT – Leonard George (January 19, 1936 – September 12, 2012) It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Leonard, with his family by his side at the Swift Current Care Centre. He is survived by his loving wife Mary of 55 years; daughter Valerie (Burton) Megan, James, Jeremy, Christopher; sons Darcy (Gervais), Gale (Rosemary) Amy & Kyle; Keith (Donna) Tawnya & Madison. He is also survived by his sisters Agnes (Gordon), Alice (Robert); brothers Nick (Jean) and Tony (Joy) and brother-in-law Roland. He is also survived by his sister-in-laws Celine, Margaret (Carl) and brother-in-laws Mike (Josephine), Joe (Rosemary), Leo (Delores) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Alex & Christine; sister Rosie and sister-in-law Lena. He is also predeceased by his in laws Valentine & Anne Wingerter and brother-in-law Albert. Dad was a hard working dedicated family man. Dad loved working with wood, camping and spending time with his family. A funeral mass was held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the Redeemer Roman Catholic Church. A prayer service was held on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Parkside Memorial Funeral Home. The family would like to especially thank special friend Sharon Stolz for her love and support. Thank you is also extended to the staff of the Swift Current Care Centre for the loving care they gave our father. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements were in care of Parkside Memorial Funeral Home.
