HEWITT, SIMEON ROBERT - It is with great sadness the family announce the death of Simeon “Sim” Hewitt of Lower Greenwich devoted husband for 44 years of Theresa (Duke) Hewitt, who passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. Sim was born August of 1946 in Saint John; he was a son of the late Harry Andrew and Marguerite (McDonald) Hewitt. He was a welder by trade and worked for different companies in the Saint John area thru the Local 1386 Carpenters Union as well as for DMK Marine (“Thanks Mark”). Sim was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with his buddies Leland and Ward. Besides his loving wife Theresa, Sim is survived by brothers Willis Vaughan Ross (Shirley) and Kenneth Ross both of Arizona; sisters Thelma Titus and Marion Luttrell (Floyd) both of Saint John; sister-in-law Alice Ross of Dartmouth, NS; many family members; nieces, nephews, friends and canine companion Tiny Girl. Besides his parents, Sim was predeceased by his brother Francis Ensley Ross and sister Betty Tracey.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). By request there will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
