Joseph Patrick MacDonald, 69, formerly of Neville Street, Dominion, passed away peacefully at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012.
Born in Dominion, Joe was the son of the late Alexander and Blanche (MacPhee) MacDonald.
Joe will be sadly missed by brothers, Earl (Audrey), Glace Bay, Donald (Debbie), Toronto; sister, Mary (the late Pius MacNeil), Dominion, Claire, Toronto; and special “brother” and “sister”, Joe Flynn and Judith Flynn-Bedard. Joe will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by brothers, Arthur ‘Art’, Michael (Al), Lewis, Harvey, sisters, Florence, Evelyn and three siblings in infancy. He was also predeceased by his aunt, Florence Flynn, who was an important part of his life.
Joe will be remembered as a great painter and Friend of the Dominion Volunteer Fire Department.
Family would like to thank the caregivers at Seaview Manor for the love and compassion given to Joe over the past several years.
Visitation for Joe MacDonald will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at St. Eugene’s Church, Dominion, with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will be held in the church hall.
Donations in Joe’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
