MURRAY, VERNON - 1925 - 2012 - Vernon passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on September 16, 2012. He was born on July 5, 1925 in Port Elgin. He will be sadly missed by his wife Geraldine (Collins), daughter Debbie (Matt) sons, Dan (Maggie), Cary (Ginette) and grandchildren Michael, Nicole and Justin Murray. He was the son of the late Percy and Ethel (Field) Murray. He was predeceased by his brother Warren Murray and sister Madelyn Allen (Ray). He is survived by one sister Geraldine Turner (Leslie), sister in law Pauline Murray and many nieces and nephews plus numerous relatives. He attended and was a member of Visions United Church (formerly Humphrey Memorial). He was a member for over 57 years of Acacia #49 Masonic Lodge also a member of 50 plus, seniors group where he played crib and dart. Vernon was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer, curler, gardener and quilter. He and Geraldine enjoyed many years of square and round dancing. He retired from Co-op Atlantic in 1988 and had a strong work ethic which he passed on to his family.
At Vernon’s request there will be no visitation, however, a private family graveside service followed by a small reception will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Moncton Hospital Palliative care unit or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted with Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton (506) 852-3530. Many heartfelt Thanks to doctors, nurses, clergy and caregivers who were so kind to Vernon.
