It is with deep sadness that we regret to announce the passing of Norma June Ruddick, 87 years of Springhill. Norma passed away on Monday, September 17, 2012 in the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in Joggins, NS, she was a daughter of the late James and Daisy Reid.
Norma enjoyed bingo, playing cards and enjoyed shopping. She attended the Senior Card Parties and volunteered some at the Tourist Bureau. She was a member of the Springhill Baptist Church. She loved her family and was a great supporter of her children's musical talents. She enjoyed being sung to by her husband Maurice and often sang along with him.
She will be sadly missed by her sons, Alder (Marilyn), Dean (Joyce), both of Springhill, Francis, Toronto, Revere, Springhill, Jessie (Vickie), Amherst Head; daughters, Colleen (Robert) Mills, South Brook, Sylvia Doncaster, Dartmouth, NS, Valerie (Barry) MacDonald, Riverview, NB, Ellen (Gardiner MacKinnon) Blair, Sherwood, PE, Leah (Ricky Simpson) Killen, Iris (Kenneth) Fife, and Katreena Ruddick, all of Springhill, Maureen (Erroll) Patriquin, New Maryland, NB; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, brother Don Reid, Joggins; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Maurice, The Singing Miner, brothers Murray, Bob, Doug, Claude, Wallace; sisters Hattie, Stella, and Goldie.
Arrangements have been entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) where visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Springhill Baptist Church, 47 Church St., Springhill on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 2 pm, Pastor Paul Berry officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill.
