Neil McDonald of Moncton, died peacefully with his family by his side at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital, on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at the age of 58 years.
Born in New Waterford, June 11, 1954, he was the son of Regis and Veronica (MacDonald) McDonald of New Waterford.
Neil trained and worked as an electronics technician with Transport Canada from 1973 until 1996. He then began working with NAV Canada as manager of the air traffic control center in Riverview until his retirement two years ago.
Neil was a member of St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church and was active in various ministries. He enjoyed life as a golfer and ballroom dancer, he kept busy puttering around the yard, and was always planning his next project.
Neil was the rock of his family. He was dependable and always available with his support, love and advice. His family meant the world to him and he treasured his precious grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Regis and Veronica, he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Irene (Bates); daughters, Erin Miller and Heather Proudfoot; his five grandchildren, Rhys and Rowan Miller and Aidan, Lily and Ainslie Proudfoot; sisters, Helen (Pius) and Joy (Rob); brothers, Regis (Anne), Stan (Sherry) and Tommy (Darlene); many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter Shannon in June, 2004.
Visitation will be held at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home, 171 Lutz St., Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Allison Carroll officiating. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery.
