It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of Carl A. Warhuus, 77, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in North Sydney, Carl was the son of the late Alf and Emma (Johnston) Warhuus.
He was employed as a steward and cook, aboard the Marine Atlantic vessels for 42 years until his retirement. He had a great love for pigeons and horses. Carl loved the simple things in life and was well known among his family and friends for playing his guitar. He was a member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church in North Sydney.
He is survived by loving wife, Shirley (Dawe) Warhuus; his daughter, Nancy (Warhuus) MacEachern (Fred Brown) and son, Jake (Lucy) Warhuus; his four grandchildren, Amanda Fitzgerald, Kevin Warhuus, Jacob Carl Warhuus and Jenessa MacEachern; six great-grandchildren; his brothers, Alf (Joan) Warhuus, Erling (Claudia) Warhuus and Eric (Jean) Warhuus; sisters, Eva (Don) Young, Marjorie Warhuus and Jacqueline (Brian) Warcop and also a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Carl will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Mathew Wesley United Church, with Rev. David Luker officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
