
Phyllis Smith
It is with sadness that the family of Phyllis Christy Smith age 89, of Amherst announce her passing on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Centennial Villa, Amherst.
Born in Cape Spear, NB she was a daughter of the late Robert and Jennie (Dobson) Trenholm.
Phyllis was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10, Amherst and also a member of the Royal True Blue Lodge in Amherst. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and sewing. Phyllis was a great cook and was a mother to many, and well known for her famous ginger cookies.
Phyllis will be sadly missed by her daughters Carol Dempsey of Amherst, Heather (Jim) Murray of Bayfield, NB, Cindy Lou Sprague of Lower Sackville, NS, her sons Robert (Heather) of Waterford, NB, Byron (Pia) of Ottawa, ON and her 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Vincent, two sisters Nettie and Gladys and two brothers Earl and Ralston, son in law George Dempsey and grandson Darcy Dempsey and great grandchildren James and Heather Stright.
A celebration of Phyllis's life will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 1 - 4 p.m. in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst. (667-9906)
