Passed peacefully away at the Veterans Pavilion on September 19, 2012 surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren, Edward Hicks, aged 88 years. Predeceased by spouse Clementine, sons Everett and David, and sister Agnes. Leaving to mourn children: Gordon (Stella), Jean, Joseph, Elizabeth (Don), Sharon, Garry (Leona), Brian, Brenda (Leonard), Carol ( David); 29 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; sisters: Monica and Ann; brothers: Leo and Lonnie; daughters-in-law: Jean, Barb, Bernice, Brenda, and Elsie, as well as a large circle of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. He served in the Merchant Marines and also was a member of the Number 740 pipefitters union. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. on Friday Sept. 21, 2012 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place at The Carnell Memorial Chapel on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow Anglican Cemetery, St. Philips.
