RITA PAULINE RELF-GOODING
February 12, 1923 ~ September 12, 2012
Rita passed away in her 90th year, having lived a full life. She was born in Gateshead, England.
Rita was an airwoman in the RAF during WWII. Her commanding officer wrote on her Certificate of Service that Rita was “a very good type of girl who has proved herself of above-average ability. She is an excellent airwoman and promises intellectual qualities…”
Rita’s beloved husband and soulmate, Charles Gooding, predeceased her in April, 2003. They travelled the world together. Rita is survived by her niece Lindsay Muir, her daughter Chloe and nephew Ian Muir, his children Lissa and Alexander, as well as nephew Roger Muir and niece Fiona Smith, all of England. She is also survived by her step-daughters Ann Kent of Vancouver, Pat Chamberlin of Garden Bay and step-nieces Kate Gooding and Joanna Gooding of England.
Rita was always grateful for a dear and long-time friend Fiona Cook and Fiona’s daughter Wendy and the kind assistance of friend Richard Chamberlin. For the last three years of her life, Rita was fortunate enough to have the care and attention of Dena Nicholby who put such joy back in Rita’s life. All who knew Rita are grateful for the wonderful staff at Christenson Village who took such good care of Rita and appreciated her lively spirit and sense of humour. Rita truly lived the journey. No service.
