We regret to announce the sudden passing of Gerald Billard on Sept. 22, 2012, at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Alice (Best) and Maxwell Billard.
He was member of North Sydney Kinsmen Club as well he volunteered at the Northside Community Forum.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughter, Darlene (Jamie) MacDonad, Ball Creek; sons, Brian (Nadine), Calgary, and Kevin (Barb), Sydney Mines. His sisters, Marjorie (Jackie) Jardine, Georges River, Shirley (Phillip) Jobes, Manitoba, Lucy Fennell, North Sydney; sister-in-law, Joanne Billard; brothers, Jimmy (Maxine), Georges River, Freddie (Heather), Sydney Mines; grandchildren, Jessica, Jaden MacDonald and Aiden, Shealyn Billard and Jeremy Billard. Special friends Louise and Charlie Iannetti.
Predeceased by his parents, brothers, Wilfred, Frankie, mother and father-in-law, Alex and Barbara Bonnar.
By request no visitation will take place. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Sydney Mines, at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, with Marion Barclay-MacKay officiating.
