CAMPBELL, AGNES L. - Agnes Lillian (Childerhouse) Campbell passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Rocmaura Nursing Home in Saint John, NB. Born on August 19, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Wm. Henry Childerhouse (1960) and Elizabeth Sullivan Childerhouse (1967), and widow of Walter J. Campbell (1962). Agnes was in the first grade one class at Holy Trinity School in 1922, and took part in the school’s closing 82 years later. In her early years she was a Girl Guide Leader at Holy Trinity Church and then the founding leader of St. Pius X Girl Guides. She worked at King Square Jewelers, Creaghan’s, D’Allaird’s, and retired after many years as switchboard operator at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League of Holy Trinity Parish. Agnes is survived by her four children, David S. Campbell (the late Mary) of Orleans, ON, Carolyn Campbell Doherty (Gordon) of Ottawa, ON, Michael W. Campbell and Sandra J. Campbell, both of Saint John, NB. She was proud “Nana” to Caren Doherty (Adam Sykes), Thomas Campbell (Lisa Cheng), Colin Campbell and Alyson Doherty (Tim McDonald), all of the Ottawa area. She was a special “Grandy” to Lacey, Mitchell, Roarke, as well as Brandon, Alicia, Spencer, and their father, Michael Roberts. She was delighted to be great-great-grandmother to Tyler, Dominic, and Raine. Agnes had a life long devotion to her siblings and is survived by her sister Georgianna LaViolette of Saint John, NB, and her brother Stephen Childerhouse (Alice) of Winnipeg, MB. Her numerous nieces and nephews were a source of great pride to her. As well as her parents and her husband, Agnes was also predeceased by her sisters Gertrude Lawson (2001), Julia Glynn (1994), Wilhelmina Kunitzky (1996), Geraldine Olsen (2007), and Aleada Johnson (1966).
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424), with visiting on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 12:00 Noon from Holy Trinity Church, Rockland Road, Saint John, with reception to follow in the Holy Trinity Family Centre. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
