Bowdoinham, ME, John H. MacDonald, age 69, died Sunday, March 30, 2008, at a Brunswick hospital. He was born in Primrose, P.E.I., Canada, on April 23, 1938, a son of Neil D. and Mary Gardiner MacDonald. His family moved to the United States in the mid 1950s, where he continued to live in the Boston area until moving to Maine in 1976. He married Bonnie A. Rancourt in Brunswick in August of 1990. Mr. MacDonald was self-employed as a building contractor most of his life and was a skilled woodworker. He was an avid outdoorsman and appreciated all that nature had to offer; he was a hunter, a fisherman, enjoyed hiking in the woods and spending time at his camp on Moosehead Lake. He was very knowledgeable about different plant and animal species and looked forward to his time with his grandchildren and the chance to impart his love and wisdom of nature to them. He was a New England Patriots fan, and pleasured in living vicariously through his grandchildren’s participation in ice hockey, which he had also enjoyed in his childhood. Mr. MacDonald was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Brunswick. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Kenny; a sister, Jean Poulin; a brother, Alfred MacDonald. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Bowdoinham; a daughter, Deborah Duncan and her husband Tom, of Georgetown, P.E.I., Canada; a brother, Wallace MacDonald and his wife Harriet, of Primrose, P.E.I.; three sisters, Frieda Collins and her husband Charlie, of Hamilton, Ontario, Josephine Hadden and her husband, Bill, of Summerside, P.E.I.; Ann Gallant and her husband Johnny of Winsloe, P.E.I.; a stepson, Douglas Doyer and his wife, Roxanne of Mechanic Falls; a sister-in-law, Glenda MacDonald of Montague, P.E.I.; five grandchildren, John and Morgan Duncan of Mechanic Falls; Alexandra, Olivia, Victoria Doyer of Georgetown, P.E.I.; a host of nieces and nephews. Friends can visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick, ME.
