It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jennie Christene MacLennan at Parkstone Enhanced Care Home in Halifax on Oct. 1, 2012.
Born on May 29, 1929, in Cape Dauphin she was a daughter of the late John W. and Jennie (Clarke) MacLennan.
Jennie was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church in Big Bras d’Or. She was also a member of the Munroe Crafters and Golden Arm Quilters, she enjoyed making quilts and knitting. Jennie graduated from Camp Hill Hospital as a CNA, she worked at the old Children’s Hospital in Halifax for nine and a half years and 28 years at Camp Hill Hospital. After her retirement, she returned to a place she loved, her old homestead in Cape Dauphin. In recent years Jennie has lived in Halifax at Parkstone Enhanced Care.
She is survived by sisters, Louise Lutz, Cape Dauphin, and Pearl Colvey, Bras d’Or; sister-in-law, Gwen MacLennan, Big Bras d’Or; nephews, John, Bernie, Gavin, Floyd, Pat, Terry and Donnie; nieces, Dorothy and Larene and their families.
She was predeceased by sisters, Catherine MacQuaig and Ruby Brown, brother, Daniel MacLennan, brothers-in-law, Carroll Lutz, Hubert Colvey and Leo Brown, nephew, Louis MacQuaig, stepfather, D.J. MacDonald.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 at Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 5 at St. James Presbyterian Church, Big Bras d’Or. Rev. Peter MacDonald will officiate. Interment in New Campbellton Cemetery.
