After a long active life, it is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of a dear husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Joseph Alphonse ‘Phonse Aucoin, 90, of Reserve Mines passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, with his family by his side.
Born in Grand Etang, Cheticamp on Feb. 17, 1922, Phonse was the son of the late Henry and Mary (Cormier) Aucoin.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Reserve Mines. Phonse was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces and later employed at Caledonia and #26 Collieries until his retirement in 1979.
During his 90 years, many happy times were enjoyed with family, relatives and the numerous friends he made during the 43 years he and Mabel camped in Ben Eoin. His daily walks, with friendly chats along the way, his bicycle and scooter rides, were a great part of his routine.
