It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Shelley Marie (MacNeil) Anderson, 47, of Sydney and formerly of Scotchtown on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, She was a daughter of Ozzie and Irene (White) MacNeil, Scotchtown.
Shelley was a member of the former St. Michael Church, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard. She loved spending time with her family and was dedicated to her husband, Jeff, and her children, Matthew, Grant and Samantha. She was a devoted wife and mother. Shelley was a feisty, comical storyteller and described daily events with pizzazz and great flare. Shopping, bartering and acquiring deals delighted her. Shelley touched people’s lives in many ways and was an unforgettable woman.
Surviving are husband, Jeff Anderson, Sydney; sons, Matthew, Fort McMurray, Alta., Jeffrey George Grant, Sydney; daughter, Samantha Irene, Sydney; brother, Ozzie (Colleen) MacNeil, Middle River, N.S.; sisters, Marlene MacNeil (Greg), Mississauga, Ont., Lynn MacNeil (Danny), Mira, Kim MacNeil (Jason), Scotchtown, Tracy (Tony) Tighe, Sydney.
Shelley was predeceased by a brother, Gordie, in childhood and father and mother-in-law, George and Beverly Anderson.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Thursday, Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, New Waterford, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, River Ryan, with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard’s Parish Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton or the Canadian Cancer Society.
