It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Christina MacIntyre, 85, of Glace Bay passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at the Glace Bay Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Gull Cove, Gabarus, Cape Breton, Christine grew up in Reserve Mines. She was the daughter of the late Dan D. and Leah (Hardy) MacDonald.
Christine was well known for her beautiful crochet work and her homemade soup. Christine was a wonderful mother and grandmother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law and a true friend to many. She will be sadly missed by all.
Christine is survived by daughters, Marion, Glace Bay, Wendy, Halifax; son, John (Doris Cohen), Orangedale; cherished grandchildren, William Roberts, Sarah MacIntyre and Freddy Jillett. Chris is also survived by her brother, Alex (Minnie) MacDonald; sisters-in-law, Bernice MacLean, Kathleen MacIntyre; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Besides her parents, Chris was predeceased by her husband, John V., daughters, Leah and Verna.
In keeping with Chris’ wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17 at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Glace Bay, with Rev. Allan MacLellan officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
