
Melbourne Tower
With much sadness the family of Melbourne "Mel" Tower, age 80 of River Hebert announce his peaceful passing at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, surround by his loving family
Born in Johnson Mill, NB he was a son to the late Herman and Tressa (Tower) Tower.
Mel worked in Ontario with the postal service for many years, returning to River Hebert in 1975, becoming a woodsman, cutting Logs and pulpwood. He also planted trees in the area. He was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. Due to ill health in the last years, he was unable to hunt but enjoyed watching wildlife from the back step.
A family man he immensely enjoyed his family and will be ever remember and sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, Helen (Hoeg); 2 daughters, Loretta (Wayne) and Darlene (Melvin); 3 granddaughters, Stephanie (Linton), Megan (Chris) and Mikaela; a sister Irene (Laurie) Smith and a brother Edgar Tower.
He was predeceased by a sister Vivian and a brother Leslie.
Mel's remains have been cremated under the care and direction of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (902-667-8777). A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at 11 am. Family and friends are invited to visitation at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Memorial donations in Mel's memory gratefully accepted to a charity of the donor's choice.
