TOMPKINS, MERLIN EUGENE - Merlin E. Tompkins of Southampton, NB passed away October 16, 2012 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born at Southampton, NB in 1945, he was a son of the late Murray Tompkins and Rosie (Lenentine) Tompkins. Merlin loved his family and enjoyed helping others. He was a faithful and active member of Nackawic Wesleyan Church. Before his retirement he was employed as a woodsworker. Merlin enjoyed hunting and fishing. Merlin is survived by his wife, Zella (Estey) Tompkins; two sons, Robert (Jennifer), Woodstock, NB and Jared at home; two sisters, Marian Sewell (Francis), Southampton, NB and Darlene Lagacy, Woodstock, NB; a brother, Sherwood Tompkins, Nackawic, NB; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Patricia Rockwell and Eileen Jenkins.
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Carl and Evelyn Brewer officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Interment at Lenentine Cemetery.
