QUEBEC – Patricia (Martell) Sicard of Quebec and formerly of Eureka, passed away on October 18th, 2012 in hospital in Quebec with her family by her side.
Born in Germany on December 24th, 1958 to parents James and Margaret Martell of Eureka, she was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an aunt and a friend.
To those that knew and loved Pat they knew that she always put others first and herself last. She was a very strong and stubborn person. She had a lot of life in her and never was one to slow down. She never complained about being sick or ask why me. We often would ask her how she did it, where did she find the strength each day? She would always say there’s no sense complaining and whining about it – you make the best of each day and take one day at a time.
Pat’s favorite things were to go to the mall shopping whether she bought anything or not. She loved the heat of the sun shining down on her and loved being with her family. She loved dogs, she would sit outside for hours on her deck watching the dogs playing and drinking her Tim Horton’s coffee. Pat loved gardening, and would spend hours in her garden. She was a very crafty person, she could make, or do anything she put her mind to. Pat loved preparing for any holiday, she didn’t care which one it was, it gave her a reason to decorate for all those around to see. Pat was a sweet, kind, generous person but don’t underestimate her as she loved playing pranks on you or surprising you when you would least expect it.
Pat loved bringing a smile to the faces of those who loved her. Her body may be gone but her spirit will always live on.
She leaves behind her husband Jean Sicard of Quebec; her children: Brian (Donna) Kerr, Jean-Paul LaRouche, Chantel LaRouche, all of Ontario; Judith (Joe) Sicard, Stephanie Sicard, Jean-Francois Sicard, all of Quebec; grandchildren: Lucas, Cynitha, Nolan and Izabella; brothers and sisters: Janet O’Donell, New Glasgow; Margaret (Neil) Matheson, Hopewell; John Martell (Cindy), Stellarton; Dorothy (Stephen) Talbot, New Glasgow; Donna (Ed) Robson, Truro; Marilyn (Danny) Martell, Westville Rd.
The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial service will be held from the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will take place in Our Lady of Lourdes Parish cemetery.
Donations in memory of Pat may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
