Passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 30th, 2012 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Stella Elizabeth Smith, age of 74. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 54 years, Ross Smith; children: Tony Smith (Cindy), Wanda Smith (Lyall), Fred Smith, Joanne Earle (Wayne); son-in-law Tim Gash; grandchildren: Jordan (Crystal), Gregory (Chrissy), Christa (Aaron), Deon (Michelle), Matthew; great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Zachary, Caleb and Kennedy; brothers: Melvin Hutchings (Ruth), Kerry Hutchings (Stephanie), Robert Hutchings (Marie), Paul Hutchings; sisters: Evelyn Shirran (Frank), Georgina Peckford (Carl), Bernetta Ezekiel (Kevin); Marjorie Hutchings, caregiver Jocelyn Webster, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews other relatives, neighbours and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter Deborah Smith; brothers: John and Donald Hutchings; parents Stan and Mildred Hutchings; mother and father-in-law Winnifred and Frederick Smith; niece Kayla; sister-in-law Joyce Fifield and great uncle Wilfred Hutchings. Stella was a resident of Summerside, NL since 1960. The family will be receiving friends at the Bethany United Church in Summerside Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. from where the funeral service will be held on Friday, November 2nd at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Clayton Parsons officiating followed by the interment at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
