Suddenly at the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, of Alvin Joseph Doucette of the Tignish Seniors Coop Home, Tignish, age 89 years, Veteran of the Second World War. Beloved husband to the late Stella (nee Perry) Doucette. Born at Tignish on April 18, 1923, he was the son of the late Peter and Mary (nee Perry) Doucette. He is survived by his stepdaughters: Rose (Leigh) Gavin of North Cape and Geraldine (Abel) Gallant of Egmont Bay. He is also survived by his six step-grandchildren, and by siblings: Elmer of the Maplewood Manor, Alberton; Gerrard of Tignish; Mae (Eddie LeClair) of Tignish; and Dorothy (late Frank) Doucette of Tignish. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Stella, stepdaughter Diane (late Peter) Buote, step-son George Doucette, step-grandchild, and by siblings: Florence Perry, Freda Bernard, Eva Bernard, Frankie Doucette and Reggie Doucette. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral on Tuesday morning from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Brendon Gallant, Celebrant. Interment in the church cemetery. If so desired memorials to St. Simon and St. Jude Cemetery Fund would be gratefully appreciated. The Tignish Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute service at the funeral home Monday evening at 6:45 pm.
