Francis G. Matheson passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012 in the QEII Health Science Center, Halifax. Francis was born in Glace Bay and was very proud of his Cape Breton heritage. He was the son of the late Melvin and Lillian (Howie) Matheson. He is survived by daughter Donna (Dave), sons Timothy (Frances) and Terry (Linda), seven grandchildren, brothers John (Betty), Wes (Carol), Busher, sister Beverly Lockman. He was predeceased by his wife Helen (Wojicik) Matheson and brother James. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1953 – 1989 and attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer 2nd Class. Cremation has taken place with burial at sea performed by the Royal Canadian Navy.
